Valentina is a Romanian born visual artist living in the UK, specialising in carving a
range of materials, from limestone to breeze blocks and plaster cast, glazed with glass
wax, graphite, or acrylic paint.
Growing up in a small town in Romania, Valentina studied Philology at the University
of Bacau, graduating in 2003, while working as a supply teacher in various schools in
her hometown. In 2007 she came to the UK where she worked in childcare before
returning to the teaching career. In 2020 Valentina joined the University of East
London, graduating in June 2024.
Valentina’s work ranges from carved stone, breeze blocks, plaster and bronze cast,
and installations with found objects or recycled materials. She exhibited at Filet Gallery
London in 2023 and UEL AVA Gallery Way Out East in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In April
2024 she was in charge of the organising and running of Ork-shun - a student-led
charitable art auction which raised over £7000. Since September 2023 Valentina
started her own business, running after-school art clubs and working with local
community to support vulnerable children.
