Untitled, from Noite series

This painting from the Noite (Night) series was on view in the show Canterio at Galeria Murilo Castro, Brazil. In this work, I develop a psychedelic nighttime landscape that dialogues with the landscape paintings created by European artists in Brazil during the colonial period. The goal here is not to represent nature itself but to highlight its symbolic and idealized character, exploring something mysterious and sensual through a non-stereotypical and deliberately unrealistic vision of the tropics.

My current interest is to investigate the idea of a contemporary landscape that goes beyond representing a physical place, exploring it as a symbolic construction through signs, images, and codes. This landscape subverts the space-time structure of the classical model, forming a fragmented visual-conceptual experience.
