Eva-Maria Raab uses the nocturnal movements of the Ionian Sea around the Greek island of Ithaca and bans them on watercolor paper. With golden ink, the artist creates seemingly arbitrary yet precise continents, paths, junctions and islands. Like in life, some of the paths just end, others branch up or seem to be endless. We decide where we go and create our own universe. With re-turning around Eva-Maria Raab also refers to the Odyssey as a permanent search of our way to our inner home. A search where we encounter unexpected turns. She created her prints on Ithaca, the land of Ulysses, that he was desperately seeking for during ten years.
