Née le 27 décembre 1973 à Welland (Canada) bien que d’origine serbe, Nina Bunjevac grandit en Yougoslavie, où elle débute son éducation artistique. En 1990, alors qu’un conflit d’ampleur couve dans la région, elle retourne au Canada pour y poursuivre ses études de graphisme. Elle fréquente notamment le Centre d’art de l’école technique de Toronto, puis le département de dessin et de peinture de l’OCAD, l’institution d’enseignement supérieur la plus ancienne du Canada dans le domaine de l’art et du design.
