L'enregistrement de l'album se fait en quelques jours, du 16 au 23 avril 1966, dans un petit studio d'enregistrement de Broadway, en compagnie d'Andy Warhol. Ici le tableaux reprend les codes de l’operation irrévérencieuse contre l’art de l’artiste Maurizio cattelan qu’il a éffectué lors du art basel miami sur le stand de la galerie Perrotin.
